A9 - The New Search
Amazon has released A9, a search engine that can search both the web, and within its books, simultaneously. Nifty.
One thing that's been getting a lot of press is how it presents your recent searches.
Such an idea is hardly new. On August 29, 1999, I pointed out how Microsoft was doing the same with their support knowledge base.
From back in the day:

It will be interesting to see what amazon does with a9. There are some hints that they are going to cobrand it generic.a9.com
Other theories are that they will leverage the data and and mine the information. Keep in mind that in order to personalize a9 you must either signup for or use your Amazon login information. They are now able to tie tons of information about a customer together.

keith- according to the privacy policy generic.a9.com is the site provided so that people can use the service without having all their datatracked. Nice, except when you realize its an admission of just how much data they are going to extract off everyone else...
