California Redwood and Oregon Coasts

My wife and I are planning a road trip along the Northern California and Oregon Coasts.

O, Internet, what should we do?

Suggestions in the comments, please!

We are particularly interested in:

good food
lightweight outdoors stuff (we have a < 2 yo child) — hiking, car camping
interesting history (particularly utopian societies and intentional communities)
